The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) Urban scheme is a government initiative aimed at providing affordable housing to the urban poor. It focuses on building houses for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and the Lower Income Group (LIG).
A total of 6,248 affordable homes have been made available in Shirgaon and Khoni, Thane, under the PMAY-Urban scheme for the EWS.
In Shirgaon, the price of each home has been increased to ₹19.28 lakh, while in Khoni, the price of each home has been reduced to ₹19.11 lakh.
Individuals with a family income of up to ₹6 lakh per annum are eligible to apply under the EWS category. Those earning between ₹6 lakh and ₹12 lakh per annum can apply under the LIG or MIG categories.
The MHADA is planning to announce a lottery draw of about 5,000 homes this September-October. The details of the locations and the exact number of homes are being finalised.
