MHADA Konkan Lottery Attracts Massive Interest: 9 Applicants for Every Flat
Mumbai: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority’s (MHADA) Konkan Board has received an overwhelming response for its 2025 housing lottery. As of 6 PM on August 7th, nearly 47,761 applications have been submitted for 5,285 flats and 77 residential plots offered under various schemes in Thane, Vasai (Palghar), Sindhudurg, and Kulgaon-Badlapur. Of these, 26,163 applicants have already paid the earnest money deposit (EMD)—a key step toward eligibility.
Meaning, about nine applicants are competing for each flat in the Konkan Board lottery, showcasing considerable demand for MHADA houses as they fall in the affordable category. The houses are offered in a price range starting from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 52 lakh in areas of Thane, Mira Road, and Gansoli, where real estate prices are typically in crores.
As the last date of application is August 13th, the number of final applications is expected to increase further. The Provisional List of Eligible Applicants will be out on August 21. The Objection/Claim Period will run until August 25, and the Final List Publication is scheduled for September 1, 2025. The Lottery Draw will take place on September 3, 2025, at 10 AM at the Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar Auditorium in Thane.
This high demand underscores the need for affordable housing in the region. MHADA’s efforts to provide accessible and affordable homes are critical in addressing the housing crisis faced by many in these areas. The lottery system ensures a fair and transparent process for allocating these valuable properties to eligible applicants.
