The PMGP Colony is a housing project built under the Prime Minister's Grant Project (PMGP) between 1990 and 1992 in Poonam Nagar, Jogeshwari, a western suburb of Mumbai. It comprises 17 ground-plus-four-storey buildings and has been in a dilapidated state for years.
The redevelopment project, initiated by MHADA, will provide residents with modern homes featuring a carpet area of 450 square feet, replacing their existing 180 square feet units. The project spans 27,625 square meters and will rehabilitate approximately 984 families.
MHADA decided to manage the project directly after receiving no bids in previous tender attempts. A proposal to carry out the redevelopment through MHADA was submitted to the government on April 4, 2025, and received approval on May 28, 2025.
The Kamathipura redevelopment project, also managed by MHADA, aims to redevelop the red-light area in South Mumbai. The project will make available 44,000 square meters of land and is expected to construct approximately 4,500 new housing units.
The last date for submitting bids for the PMGP Colony redevelopment project is July 7, 2025.
