The MHADA lottery 2026 has put 2,640 affordable homes up for sale in Mumbai, with a significant portion, 1,762 apartments or around 66%, currently under construction. The price range of these homes varies widely, catering to different income groups. According to the MHADA list, there are 4 apartments priced above ₹6 crore. Two of these are located in Cressent Tower, Tardeo, with one measuring 1,520 sq ft and priced at ₹6.77 crore, and the other measuring 1,838 sq ft and priced at ₹6.82 crore, making it the costliest apartment in the lottery.
Several apartments in the lottery are priced between ₹2 crore and ₹4 crore. The most affordable homes are over 300 sq ft, located in the Mankhurd and Goregaon areas, and are priced at over ₹29 lakh and ₹32 lakh, respectively. These affordable homes are primarily in the mid-income group (MIG) and high-income group (HIG) categories.
Of the 2,640 affordable homes, 47 are reserved for sitting and former Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). The costliest apartment, worth ₹6.82 crore, located in South Mumbai's Tardeo, is reserved for sitting and former MLAs or MPs. This reservation reflects the government's effort to provide housing options for elected representatives while also addressing the broader housing needs of the city's residents.
The MHADA lottery 2026 is a significant step towards addressing the housing crisis in Mumbai, one of the most densely populated and economically vibrant cities in India. The high number of applications underscores the immense demand for affordable housing in the city, where real estate prices are notoriously high. MHADA's initiative is expected to provide a ray of hope for many first-time homebuyers and families looking to secure a foothold in Mumbai's competitive real estate market.
The success of this lottery draw not only highlights the critical need for affordable housing but also demonstrates the effectiveness of government-led initiatives in addressing this pressing issue. As the results are announced on May 15, 2026, many hopeful applicants will be eagerly waiting to see if they have won the opportunity to own a home in the city of dreams.
