MHADA to Build 800,000 Homes in Maharashtra Over the Next Five Years
Real Estate Maharashtra:THANE Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who is also the minister for Housing & Urban Development, made a significant announcement on Wednesday.
He stated that the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will construct 800,000 houses across the state over the next five years.
This monumental initiative was announced during a lottery for 2,147 houses and 117 plots in the Konkan division.

Shinde emphasized that the trust in MHADA has been steadily increasing due to its transparent lottery system.
He noted that over 31,000 individuals applied for the 2,147 houses available in the current lottery, highlighting the public's confidence in the authority's processes.

The minister also stressed the importance of cluster development projects, which are designed to build well-planned cities within existing urban areas.
He announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for several cluster projects will take place in Thane on February 9.
Shinde highlighted that the construction quality of MHADA houses has significantly improved over the years, ensuring better living conditions for residents.

Furthermore, the state's new housing policy will include specific provisions for textile mill workers and Mumbai's famous 'dabbawalas' (tiffin carriers).
