Microsoft Boosts Indian Presence with Massive Pune Land Acquisition
Real Estate Pune:Global technology giant Microsoft has made a significant expansion of its Indian operations with the acquisition of 16.4 acres of prime land in Pune. The purchase, valued at Rs 520 crore, was confirmed by real estate consultant Square Yards.

The transaction, which involved Microsoft's Indian arm, Microsoft Corporation (India) Pvt Ltd, was officially registered in August 2024. The land was purchased from Indo Global Infotech City LLP, with the company incurring a stamp duty of Rs 31.18 crore and a registration fee of Rs 30,000.

This acquisition is in line with Microsoft's broader strategy to grow its data center operations in India. The company has been aggressively expanding its data center network in the country, with existing locations in Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai. This latest purchase is expected to further boost Microsoft's capabilities in the region.

Notably, this is not Microsoft's first major land acquisition in India. In 2022, the company acquired 25 acres of land in Pimpri-Chinchwad for Rs 328 crore. Earlier this year, Microsoft also purchased 48 acres of land in Hyderabad for Rs 267 crore.

Microsoft's expanding data center network is a testament to the company's commitment to the Indian market. With this latest acquisition, Microsoft is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for cloud services and data storage in the country.
