The proposed Mumbai Metro Line 8, also known as the Gold Line, will cover a total distance of 34.89 km.
The Gold Line will include 20 stations, of which 14 will be elevated and 6 underground.
The commute time between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) will be reduced to just 40–45 minutes, compared to the current 1.5-hour road journey.
After the state government's approval, the project will move to the Public Investment Board (PIB) for financial vetting. Final clearance will come from the Union Cabinet, paving the way for construction to begin.
The Gold Line is expected to transform Mumbai’s transport network by enhancing connectivity between the island city and Navi Mumbai, easing congestion on major arterial roads, and providing a faster, more reliable link for passengers.
