The POCSO Act, or the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, is a law in India designed to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation. It provides for severe penalties for offenders and ensures the rights of the child are protected during the legal process.
The incidents took place in Andheri and Bandra, which are areas in the western suburbs of Mumbai, India.
In the first incident, a 56-year-old real estate agent allegedly molested two girls aged seven and eight years in Andheri. He lured them with chocolates and touched them inappropriately, which made one of the girls angry. Both girls then informed their parents about the incident.
In the second incident, a 21-year-old man who works as a salesman was arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in Bandra. The incident occurred when the girl was heading home and was stopped by the accused in an isolated area.
