The high-frequency (HF) receiving station is used for signalling purposes for flights that fly in and around the Mumbai airspace. It is vital for flight communication and safety.
The HF station is being moved from Dahisar to Gorai to facilitate redevelopment projects in Dahisar, which have been stalled due to height restrictions imposed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
Height restrictions in Gorai may limit new constructions and require existing no-objection certificates (NOCs) to be reconciled, potentially affecting ongoing and future real estate projects in the area.
Approximately 20 acres of land at Gorai will be handed over to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) free of cost for the installation of the HF receiving stations.
The land in Dahisar will remain with the Airports Authority of India (AAI), but the authority will have to develop the area into a garden or park and keep it open for the general public.
