A 69-year-old retired man from Virar has filed a complaint with Tardeo Police, alleging he was cheated of nearly ₹9.8 lakh by three individuals who promised to secure him a MHADA flat in Mumbai.

MHADA stands for the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority. It is a government body in Maharashtra responsible for the development and allocation of housing units to low-income groups.
The accused in this fraud case are Rutuja alias Suvarna Modak of Sewree, Vineet Pawar of Parel, and Rajesh Tiwari of Sewree.
The complainant, Vitthal Maruti Shinde, was defrauded of ₹9.80 lakh after the accused returned only ₹3.30 lakh out of the total ₹13.10 lakh taken.
The complainant filed the complaint with Tardeo Police Station in Mumbai.
Charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy have been registered against the accused based on the complaint.
