Real Estate:A 35-year-old man from Mumbai has been duped of ₹10 lakh by a couple who promised to sell him a house in Chembur's Shell Colony. The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, met one of the accused, a real estate agent, through a friend.

The agent, along with his wife and two others, showed the victim a house in Shell Colony and promised to sell it to him for ₹50 lakh. The victim paid ₹10 lakh as a token amount, but soon realized that he had been scammed.

According to the police, the victim filed a complaint on January 10, stating that he had been cheated by the accused. The police have booked four individuals, including the real estate agent and his wife, under sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

The victim told the police that he had met the real estate agent through a friend, who had recommended him as a trustworthy person. The agent had shown him several houses in Chembur, but the victim was interested in the one in Shell Colony.
