The total cost of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway expansion project is ₹14,900 crore.
The proposed widening will cover 83 kilometers of the expressway, excluding the Khandala Ghat’s 13-kilometre section.
The expressway currently manages over 60,000 vehicles on weekdays and more than one lakh during weekends.
The ten-lane expansion is expected to reduce travel time, improve traffic flow, enhance commuter safety, and support economic activities and logistics.
The project will integrate advanced traffic management systems, pedestrian-friendly designs, and measures to mitigate vehicular emissions to reduce the carbon footprint and ensure minimal disruption to local ecosystems.
