Passengers are frustrated due to excessive halts and long travel times, which turn a supposedly smooth journey into a drawn-out ordeal. The bus often takes more than five hours to complete the journey, with multiple stoppages within the city before reaching the expressway.
The fare for the Mumbai–Pune Shivneri AC bus service is ₹590. However, many passengers feel that the service quality does not justify the cost, especially when comparing it to alternative modes of transportation like shared cabs, which are faster and often cheaper.
The delays are often due to buses waiting at intermediate stops to fill vacant seats, even after departing from the Dadar depot. This practice, while aimed at maximizing occupancy, significantly impacts travel time and passenger satisfaction.
A senior official from the MSRTC acknowledged the complaints and stated that the issue would be reviewed. They noted that buses taking the route via Vashi bridge, Nerul, and Kharghar tend to face more delays due to repeated stops, while services operating through Atal Setu have not reported similar issues.
The MSRTC has promised to review the issues and implement measures to reduce travel times and improve the overall experience for passengers. They are under pressure to enhance their services and regain public trust.
