The Kamathipura Redevelopment Project is an initiative by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) to modernize the 100-year-old Kamathipura area in Mumbai. It involves rebuilding old and dilapidated buildings and providing residents with new, safe flats and amenities.
Landowners will receive flats based on the size of their plots. For example, one 500 square foot flat for a plot up to 50 square meters, and four 500 square foot flats for a plot between 151 and 200 square meters.
The developer is expected to build around 4,500 new flats on an area of 567,000 square meters, as part of the Kamathipura Redevelopment Project.
The state government approved the Kamathipura project on January 12, 2023.
