Navi Mumbai Land Scam: 15 Investors Duped of ₹57.36 Lakh in Uran Plot Sale
CBD Belapur Police are currently investigating a significant land fraud case in Navi Mumbai's Uran taluka. The case involves a group of eight individuals accused of cheating 15 investors out of a total of ₹57.36 lakh. The accused are alleged to have promised the sale of open plots but failed to deliver either the land or refunds. They have been booked for cheating and criminal breach of trust, and the investigation is ongoing.
According to the police, the main accused, Tejas Daki, along with his associates, established an office under the name M/s Landlords Realtors in the CBD area in June 2022. The group aggressively advertised open plots for sale in various areas of Uran taluka, including Washve, Vasheni, and Punade. These advertisements attracted multiple investors who were lured by the prospect of purchasing land at attractive prices.
Despite receiving substantial payments from the investors, the accused neither handed over possession of the plots nor returned the money. This fraudulent activity led to significant financial losses for the victims, who eventually approached the police with their grievances.
The complainants include individuals such as Pushkarsingh Rawat, Pravin Chandanshiv, Pradeep Bhatkar, Sunil Wadkar, Kantilal Patel, Gaurav Varasolkar, Rajinder Singh, Hafiz Ansari, Manoj Holkar, Nani Mandal, Tukaram Dhepe, Sachin Shahane, and Sunil Shetty, among others. These 15 investors jointly filed a complaint with the CBD Belapur Police Station, leading to the registration of the case.
A police officer from the CBD Belapur Police Station stated, 'Based on the complaint, we have registered a case and are conducting further investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.' The police are also urging any other potential victims to come forward with their information.
The case has been registered against Tejas Daki, Shubhangi Shinde, Manohar Mhatre, Prem Daki, Sandesh Patil, Vishal, Preeti Daki, and Shrikant Bhandari under Sections 318(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. These provisions are designed to address serious financial crimes and ensure that victims receive the justice they deserve.
This scam highlights the importance of due diligence and caution when dealing with real estate transactions, especially in rapidly developing areas like Navi Mumbai. Prospective buyers are advised to verify the authenticity of property dealers and conduct thorough background checks before making any financial commitments.
