Navi Mumbai Man Defrauded of Rs 1.47 Crore in Property Scam
Real Estate News:The police in Navi Mumbai have registered a case against a real estate company director and two others for allegedly cheating a man of Rs 1.47 crore after promising him six flats over a period of five years, officials said on Sunday.

The victim, a 57-year-old transport firm owner from CBD Belapur in Navi Mumbai, was lured with the promise of multiple flats. The accused collected the sum from June 2011 to January 2016. The victim was assured that a formal Agreement for Sale would be executed and possession of the flats would be handed over to him.

However, the promised flats were never provided, and the money was not returned. An official from the CBD Belapur police station confirmed that the victim filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a case against the real estate company director and his two associates under the legal provisions for cheating.

The police have appealed to the public to remain cautious and thoroughly verify documents before committing to property purchases to avoid falling prey to similar scams.

In another case, 45 customers of a medical distributor in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, were allegedly duped of Rs 9.12 lakh. The accused, Zishan Shakeel Patkire, an agent, collected orders for medicines and took Rs 9.12 lakh from the customers between March and June this year. Patkire pocketed the money and did not deposit it with the distributor, resulting in the failure to supply the orders. A case has been registered against Patkire under sections 316(4) (criminal breach of trust) and 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Additionally, a 44-year-old man in Thane district was allegedly defrauded of Rs 23.5 lakh by the owner of a financial services company and his associates. The accused lured the victim to invest in share trading between March and August. A case has been registered against the Diva-based firm's owner and five associates under sections 316(2), 316(5) (criminal breach of trust), 318(4) (cheating), and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

These cases highlight the importance of diligence and verification when dealing with financial and property transactions. The police continue to investigate and appeal to the public to report any suspicious activities.
