NCP Alleges Undervalued Sale of Yashwant Sugar Factory Land to Pune APMC
India, Nov. 22 -- Nationalist Congress Party (SP) spokesperson Vikas Lawande has levelled serious allegations against the Pune Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) and the directors of Yashwant Sugar Factory in Theur. He claimed that land belonging to the Yashwant sugar factory, valued at Rs.512 crore, was sold to the APMC for Rs.299 crore in October this year.
Lawande addressed a press conference in the city on Saturday. 'The Pune APMC has purchased the land of the Yashwant Sugar Factory and violated all the rules. Although the market value of this land is Rs.512 crore, it was sold for Rs.299 crore. The transaction was conducted on a stamp paper, and the government's stamp duty revenue was not paid,' he said.
According to Lawande, this discrepancy in the sale price raises questions about the transparency and fairness of the transaction. 'We will soon file a police complaint to investigate this matter thoroughly. The underpayment of the land's value not only affects the financial interests of the public but also undermines the integrity of the APMC and the government's revenue collection system,' he added.
The Yashwant Sugar Factory is a significant agricultural entity in Theur, known for its contributions to the local economy. The sale of such valuable land at a significantly lower price could have far-reaching implications for the region's development and economic stability.
Lawande also highlighted the potential legal and financial ramifications of this alleged undervaluation. 'If proven, this could lead to serious legal consequences for the individuals involved and may necessitate a review of the APMC's regulatory mechanisms to prevent such irregularities in the future,' he stated.
The allegations have sparked a debate about the governance and accountability of APMCs and the need for stricter oversight in land transactions involving public entities. The NCP has called for an immediate inquiry into the matter and has urged the government to take stringent action to ensure that the interests of the public are protected.
As the situation unfolds, the public and stakeholders are waiting for an official response from the Pune APMC and the directors of the Yashwant Sugar Factory. The outcome of this investigation could set a precedent for how similar cases are handled in the future and could lead to reforms in the regulatory framework governing such transactions.
