Tragedy on Tamhini Ghat: 25-Year-Old Pune Biker Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run
Pune, 22nd November 2025: Police have registered a hit-and-run case after a 25-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured when a speeding cargo truck allegedly rammed into his bike in the Tamhini Ghat region on November 9. The truck driver, who is yet to be identified, fled the scene without informing authorities.
The FIR was lodged on November 14 by Amogh Amarish Joshi (22) of Dahanukar Colony, Kothrud. According to his statement, he and his friend Swapnil Waykar had left Pune around 6:00 am for a bike ride to Tamhini Ghat during their college vacation.
At Jijai Café in Bhugaon, they met friends Shubham Shinde, Onkar, Vaibhav Kulkarni, and Subodh Joshi. Another friend, Mohak Mantesh Saradal, later joined them on his motorcycle (MH 14 LF 0213). After crossing Malegaon, the group got separated on the route.
Around 8:30 am, Joshi received a call from Mohak’s number. A local villager was on the line and informed him that Mohak had been hit “forcefully” by a truck (MH 11 AL 0320). The impact threw him off the road and into nearby bushes.
When Joshi and the others reached the location, they found Mohak severely injured. His motorcycle was extensively damaged, and the fuel tank had burst, causing petrol to spill onto the ground.
Locals and friends pulled him out of the bushes and provided first aid until an ambulance arrived.
Mohak was taken to Dhanashree Hospital in Nigdi, where doctors confirmed a fractured right thigh bone and multiple finger injuries on his right hand. He was later shifted to the ICU for further treatment.
According to the FIR, the truck driver was driving rashly and in violation of traffic rules. After causing the accident, he allegedly fled without informing police or assisting the injured rider.
The Paud Police have registered a case against the unidentified driver of truck number MH 11 AL 0320 under sections related to negligent driving, causing grievous hurt, and failing to report an accident.
An investigation is underway.
