New Era for MahaRERA: Former CS Manoj Saunik Takes the Helm as Chairman
Real Estate Maharashtra:In a significant development for the real estate sector in Maharashtra, the state government has appointed former Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik as the Chairman of the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA). This move comes at a critical juncture, as MahaRERA has been working towards regulating and promoting the real estate sector in the state.

Saunik, who retired as the Chief Secretary in December last year, is currently serving as the Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister. His appointment as the Chairman of MahaRERA was announced through a notification issued by the state housing department. Saunik was chosen from a pool of shortlisted applicants by the selection committee.

This development is significant, as MahaRERA has been taking steps to ensure transparency and accountability in the real estate sector. Recently, the regulatory body had served notices to around 16,000 real estate developers and promoters for failing to provide satisfactory responses regarding their projects. Furthermore, MahaRERA is also in the process of employing Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to grade realty projects, which will help to improve the overall quality of projects.

MahaRERA was established on March 8, 2017, with the primary objective of regulating and promoting the real estate sector in the state. Since its inception, the regulatory body has been working towards creating a more transparent and accountable real estate sector. Saunik's appointment as the Chairman of MahaRERA is expected to bring in fresh perspectives and ideas to further improve the functioning of the regulatory body.

Saunik will be the third Chairman of MahaRERA, succeeding Ajit Mehta, whose term ends on September 20. He will hold the position until he reaches the age of 65. With his vast experience and expertise, Saunik is expected to lead MahaRERA towards achieving its objectives and creating a more robust real estate sector in Maharashtra.
