Real Estate Maharashtra:In a significant development, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) is set to welcome a new chairman, Manoj Saunik. The former Maharashtra Chief Secretary and Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will take over from Ajoy Mehta, who is due to retire from the post on September 20.

As an IAS officer of the 1987 batch, Saunik has had a distinguished career, serving as the 46th chief secretary of the state. Notably, his wife, Sujata Saunik, was recently appointed as the first woman chief secretary of the state.

With a unique blend of experience in both journalism and bureaucracy, Saunik has had a varied career trajectory. He was the private secretary to the then union power minister Sushilkumar Shinde from February 2006 to July 2009. Subsequently, he served in the department of defence production for two years, till November 2012. Hailing from Bihar, Saunik has also had stints as Collector of Nashik and Dhule earlier.

As the new chairman of MahaRERA, Saunik's vast experience and knowledge of the state's administration will be invaluable in regulating the real estate sector in Maharashtra. His appointment is expected to bring in a new era of transparency and efficiency in the sector.
