New Shivajinagar Bus Depot in Pune to Start Construction Soon
Real Estate Pune:The construction of the new Shivajinagar bus depot in Pune is set to begin soon, according to MLA Siddharth Shirole. The estimated cost of the project is between ₹250 to ₹300 crore and is expected to be completed within three years.

The project, which includes a bus station, depot, parking, and staff quarters, will be developed on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis. The agreement has been drafted and a final decision is anticipated within the next fifteen days.

Shirole held an extensive meeting with Shravan Hardikar, Chairman and Managing Director of Maha Metro, and Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director of Maha Metro, to review the progress of both the Shivajinagar-Hinjewadi Metro line and the construction of the new integrated complex of the Shivajinagar ST Station.

The ST Corporation has already submitted its plans to Maha Metro, and the project is set to proceed. The new complex will include the new ST bus station and will be developed within the next three years.

The current bus depot in Wakdewadi, along the Pune-Mumbai highway, has increased traffic on the already busy road and is causing inconvenience to commuters. The new depot will be built on the original location of the Shivajinagar bus depot, which was shifted to Wakdewadi after metro work began in December 2019.

Pune Metro was given one acre of land for an underground Shivajinagar metro station on the four acres owned by MSRTC. The detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared, and a tender will be floated soon.

The new bus depot is expected to bring relief to commuters and reduce traffic congestion on the Pune-Mumbai highway.
