Foreigners can invest NZD $1 million in an existing business for a 3-year work-to-residence pathway or NZD $2 million for a 12-month fast-track to residence pathway. The investment must generate at least five jobs to qualify for a residency permit.
Applicants can purchase a business outright or acquire at least 25% of the business, provided they meet the minimum investment thresholds. This new visa category aims to attract entrepreneurs and investors who can contribute to the growth of New Zealand's business sector.
