The minister's visit was prompted by a rape incident that occurred at Swargate Bus Stand in February, which had shaken the entire state and led to the suspension of several officials.
The officials involved in the incident were suspended and departmental inquiries were initiated. However, some of these officials were later reinstated to the same post without proper disciplinary action.
The minister stated that reinstating suspended officials to the same post without disciplinary action sends a wrong message to society and undermines the assurance given in the Assembly.
During his visit, the minister reviewed the passenger waiting area, toilets, and rest facilities for drivers and conductors. He also interacted with commuters and staff, listened to their complaints and suggestions, and directed officials to take prompt corrective measures.
Under the minister's leadership, the ST Corporation aims to improve the overall quality of transportation services in Pune, making it safer and more reliable for all users.
