The Noida Authority has decided to cancel the allotment of residential plots that have remained vacant for over 12 years. Any allottee who fails to construct a house on their plot within 12 years will forfeit ownership.
These plots are targeted because they are often left idle for speculative gains, violating the intended use of the land for housing. They also become eyesores in neighborhoods and impact the overall development of the area.
If a plot is already under construction, the allottee will be granted a grace period of up to six months to complete the construction and obtain a completion certificate.
The Noida Authority also approved the adoption of Unified Regulations-2025, an integrated municipal solid waste management plant, and the launch of a mobile application to monitor public projects.
The new rules aim to ensure that land allocated for housing is used for its intended purpose, which should help in reducing speculation and ensuring more housing units are completed and available for homebuyers.
