Panvel Homebuyer Gets ₹86.37 Lakh Refund After 10-Year Wait

10-Year Wait Ends in Refund Order

A Panvel homebuyer who booked a flat for around ₹50 lakh nearly a decade ago has finally got relief. The consumer commission directed the developer and its partners to refund about ₹86.37 lakh, including 9% interest, for the prolonged delay in possession.

What the Order Means

The order covers the original amount paid by the buyer along with compensation for the waiting period. It sends a strong signal to developers in Maharashtra that unreasonable delays will attract costs.

For buyers, the case highlights the importance of documenting payments and using legal channels when possession is stalled. Interest at 9% on the principal can substantially increase the final payout.

Homebuyers in Mumbai Metropolitan Region should check project status and legal recourse before investing in pre-launch or under-construction properties.
