The PCMC has identified over 34,000 property owners who have not paid their taxes for many years.
The majority of tax defaulters are from affordable housing schemes and government-sponsored projects like the Prime Minister Awas Yojana, Gharkul Yojana, Slum Rehabilitation Authority, and OTA scheme.
The total amount of outstanding dues from residential property owners in Pune is ₹310 crore.
The PCMC plans to seize high-value household items such as cars, televisions, refrigerators, and other luxury goods from property owners with unpaid taxes. In extreme cases, properties may be seized.
The PCMC has set an ambitious revenue target of ₹1,300 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
