PMLA Court Allows Sale of ₹3,464 Cr Attached Assets in NSEL Case

By GeoSquare News Desk · Published 2026-10-13

The special PMLA court in Mumbai has given the green light for the sale of assets attached by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Spot Exchange Limited (NSEL) fraud case. The attached assets are valued at approximately ₹3,464 crore and include a significant portion of real estate holdings across major cities.

Real Estate Assets in Focus

Among the properties set for monetisation are commercial and residential plots linked to promoters and entities involved in the NSEL payment default. The court's approval allows the ED to auction these properties, which could bring a large inventory of prime land and buildings into the market.

Impact on Property Market

Real estate analysts believe the sale of such high-value attached assets may create fresh supply in the commercial and residential segments. This could present buying opportunities for investors, especially in Mumbai and the National Capital Region, where several of these properties are located.

The monetisation process is expected to be carried out through transparent e-auctions, with proceeds going towards repaying the defrauded investors. The development marks a crucial step in the recovery process under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
