PMRDA Demolishes Illegal 6-Storey Building in Pune, Removes 122 Unauthorized Hoardings
Real Estate Pune:Hinjawadi, 5th June 2025: In a continued crackdown on unauthorized constructions and visual clutter, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) on Thursday razed a six-storey illegal building in Marunji and confirmed the removal of 122 unauthorized hoardings across multiple talukas.

The demolished building was located at Survey No. 45/1/2 in Marunji and had been constructed without any official permissions. Acting on public complaints, the PMRDA launched a coordinated demolition operation, carried out under tight security and in the presence of local authorities.

According to PMRDA officials, the structure posed serious safety risks and violated zoning and construction regulations. The demolition was supervised and executed under the guidance of top PMRDA officials and law enforcement.

Parallel to the demolition drive, the PMRDA has intensified its campaign against unauthorized hoardings. A recent survey revealed a staggering 967 illegal hoardings across the Pune Metropolitan Region. Of these, 122 have already been dismantled in talukas including Haveli, Mulshi, Bhor, Purandar, and Daund.

Authorities pointed out that these hoardings not only contribute to visual pollution, but also obstruct traffic and pose safety hazards to pedestrians and motorists.

The operations were conducted following directives from Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase. The drive was jointly led by Acting Commissioner Deepak Singla, Superintendent of Police (Vigilance) Amol Tambe, Deputy Collector Dr. Deepti Suryawanshi-Patil, and Executive Officer Pramod Kudale.

A large security force, including Tahsildar Ravindra Ranjane, officer Sachin Mhaske, and Police Inspector Maheshkumar Saratape, was deployed to ensure the smooth execution of the demolition and hoarding removal.

The PMRDA has reiterated its commitment to enforcing urban development laws, stating that the drive against illegal constructions and hoardings will continue uninterrupted. The authority has warned that strict action will be taken against individuals or entities flouting development norms. The operation highlights the PMRDA’s renewed focus on maintaining urban discipline and promoting safe, lawful development in the rapidly expanding Pune Metropolitan Region.
