Hyderabad: The anti-narcotics agency of the Telangana police, known as the EAGLE team, in collaboration with the Moinabad police, carried out a significant raid on a farmhouse in Moinabad on Saturday, March 14. The operation led to the arrest of five individuals, including three political leaders, who were allegedly consuming cocaine during a party at the farmhouse.
According to DCP Chevella, Yogesh Gautham, the party was attended by a former MLA Rohith Reddy, Eluru MP Putta Mahesh, Namit Sharma, a former MLA from Jaipur, an advocate, six real estate businessmen, and a woman. The police raided the farmhouse at around 9:30 PM, finding ten people present. Five of them tested positive for drugs.
The EAGLE team handed over the accused to the Moinabad police, who will conduct further drug tests and register a case against them. The quantity of the contraband is still being ascertained, but preliminary reports suggest it was close to two grams of cocaine.
One of the individuals, Namit Sharma, who is a real estate businessman from Delhi, fired a round at the police during the raid.
