The accused include the parents of the 17-year-old juvenile driver, two doctors from Sassoon Hospital, a hospital staff member, two middlemen, and three others involved in facilitating financial transactions and blood sample replacements.
The 17-year-old driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was driving a Porsche car when he knocked down and killed two software professionals on a motorbike in the early hours of May 19.
Dr. Taware allegedly directed Dr. Halnor, the then-chief medical officer at Sassoon Hospital, to replace the blood samples of the juvenile driver and other minors involved in the accident.
The Juvenile Justice Board granted bail to the teenager on lenient terms, including writing a 300-word essay on road safety, which caused significant public outrage.
The court has granted the police permission to question all the accused in jail, and legal proceedings are ongoing. Fresh leads and further investigations are being pursued.
