Power Struggle: Bengaluru's Mantri Serenity Residents Take on Developer
Real Estate:The residents of Mantri Serenity apartments in Bengaluru are facing a power struggle, quite literally. 106 flat owners have filed a complaint at the Subramanyapura police station against Vista Castle Private Limited, a unit of the Mantri Group, over temporary power supply issues that have been plaguing the complex for nearly two years.

The 27-storey apartment complex, which houses 1,500 families across 17 blocks, has been struggling with power supply disconnections. On Saturday, the power supply was disconnected for four hours, leaving the residents in the dark. Although the power was restored, the residents were warned that the supply would be disconnected again on Monday morning.

The root of the issue lies in the lack of a permanent power connection. When the residents moved into the flats nearly two years ago, they were promised a permanent power supply (Low Tension domestic power), but they have only received temporary supply. Despite the developer paying the power bills, BESCOM has repeatedly issued notices for a permanent power connection, which have been ignored.

The temporary power supply has been causing disruptions in the daily lives of the residents. The lifts operate intermittently, and there have been instances where senior citizens were stuck inside lifts for 30 to 45 minutes, endangering their lives. The residents are living in constant fear, and a solution is urgently needed.

An agency outsourced by Vista, Propcare Real Estate Management Private Limited, has been paying the power bills regularly to BESCOM, so pending bills are not an issue. However, the residents are determined to get a permanent power connection and have staged a protest at the marketing office of Mantri Serenity inside the premises, forcing it to close on Sunday evening.
