Real Estate Mumbai:Property Share, a leading technology-enabled commercial real estate investment platform, has made history by becoming the first entity to receive the small and medium real estate investment trust (SM REIT) licence from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). This milestone marks a significant step forward for the company, which has secured the approval under the name of Property Share Investment Trust (PSIT).

The fractional ownership platform has been granted the licence under the newly notified SM REIT regulations, which are designed to provide a regulated framework for small and medium-sized real estate investment trusts. As the investment manager to PSIT, Property Share will be responsible for managing the trust's assets and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

According to Kunal Moktan, co-founder of Property Share, the regulated product comes with numerous benefits for investors, including high net worth requirements for the investment manager, compliance and reporting standards, transparency, investor protection mechanisms, and marketing restrictions.
