Pune: ABVP and MNVS Clash Over Boycott Posters at Wadia College
Real Estate Pune:A dispute broke out between members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Monday after posters demanding a boycott of MNVS, National Students Union of India (NSUI), and Ambedkarite Students Association (ASA) appeared on walls near Nowrosjee Wadia College in Sangamwadi.

In retaliation for the posters, workers of the MNVS allegedly barged into an ABVP office and put a padlock on its gate after asking the persons inside to vacate. A case has been registered against MNVS workers in this regard at the Faraskhana Police Station, said a police officer.

ABVP denied putting up the posters in a press note issued later in the day. The press note said, “Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena activists, who were trying to prove their political existence by arguing over various posters put up by unknown people outside Wadia College in Pune, tried to attack the ABVP Pune office. ABVP condemns this political stunt.”

The posters read, “Enough is Enough. Wadia deserves better. Boycott NSUI (National Students Union of India), MNVS (Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena), ASA (Ambedkarite Students Association). Wadia will now come under the jurisdiction of ABVP. Let’s make Wadia better. JoinABVP.”

ABVP workers then held a protest outside the Perugate Police chowki demanding that a case be registered against MNS members.

Meanwhile, MNVS said that Amit Thackeray, son of chief Raj Thackeray, will have a meeting with Pune Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar on Tuesday regarding this issue. Dhananjay Dalvi, City President of MNVS, said, “We went to Koregaon police station and explained the incident at Wadia College. However, the police did not take any action, causing an increase in the dispute. Now, instead of giving us justice, Pune police have taken action against us.”
