The current length of the runway at Pune Airport is 2,535 metres (8,316 feet) and 45 metres wide.
The IAF has approved the acquisition of 13 additional acres of land for the runway extension.
The estimated cost for acquiring the required site and extending the runway is around ₹160 crore.
Eight new parking bays, including five standard bays and three remote bays, are planned for Pune Airport.
The goal is to increase the average daily flight movements to 200, including landings and takeoffs.
