Pune District Collector Unveils Generous ₹1 Crore Per Acre Compensation for Purandar Airport Land
Real Estate Pune:Pune, 3rd November 2025: The Pune District Collector’s Office has proposed a comprehensive compensation package for farmers whose land will be acquired for the proposed Purandar International Airport. The plan includes offering double the value of existing houses, cowsheds, fruit trees, wells, and water channels, along with 10 percent of the developed land in the same area.

District Collector Jitendra Dudi shared details of the proposal during a meeting with farmer representatives from seven affected villages in Purandar taluka. He emphasized that the administration’s approach is guided by fairness, transparency, and protection of farmers’ interests under the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

“As per the state government’s notification, every effort will be made to ensure fair compensation to the farmers. Their demands are being positively considered within the framework of the law,” Dudi said.

According to the proposed compensation structure, 10 percent of the acquired land area will be allotted for industrial, commercial, residential, or mixed-use development within the same vicinity. Each beneficiary will receive a minimum of 100 square meters of developed land. Additionally, project-affected families whose houses are acquired will be provided with a 250 square meter residential plot in the proposed Aerocity area at a compensation-linked rate.

Families rendered landless by the project will receive a cash benefit equivalent to 760 days of minimum agricultural wages, disbursed in quarterly installments. Small landholders will receive compensation equivalent to 500 days of agricultural wages.

To assist in relocation, affected families will be provided a ₹40,000 grant, while those relocating cowsheds or cattle shelters will receive ₹20,000 per shed. One eligible member from each project-affected family will be offered a training course at an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and given employment priority as per qualifications.

“Farmers will receive ₹1 crore per acre as compensation for land acquisition. The administration is committed to ensuring that farmers get maximum justice under the rules,” Dudi said.

The Purandar International Airport project, which has been under consideration for several years, is expected to significantly boost connectivity and economic growth in Pune district. The fresh compensation proposal aims to rebuild trust and cooperation among local farmers, many of whom have previously expressed concerns over displacement and inadequate compensation.
