The last rites of Rohit Aarrya were performed at the Vaikunth crematorium in Navi Peth, Pune, around 2.30 am on Saturday.
Rohit Aarrya allegedly held 17 children and others, including a senior citizen, hostage in Powai, Mumbai, before he was shot dead by Mumbai police.
Rohit Aarrya lived in various parts of Pune, including Girija Shankar Vihar in Karvenagar and Shivteerthnagar in Kothrud, before moving to Mumbai.
The exact reason for the family's choice of an odd time for cremation is unclear, as they were not in a condition to speak about it.
In a video recorded before the incident, Aarrya claimed that the state government owed him Rs 2 crore for a project named ‘Swachhata Monitor' and he did not receive recognition for it.
