Pune Metro Line 3 Opens, 4 New Corridors Advance

By GeoSquare News Desk · Published 2026-11-04

Metro Line 3 Operational

Pune's much-anticipated Metro Line 3 has commenced operations, covering a 23.203-km stretch that links key IT hubs and residential zones. This corridor enhances connectivity across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and the wider Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR), promising reduced commute times and improved accessibility.

Four New Corridors Get Green Light

In a significant boost to the city's transit network, four additional metro corridors have been approved. These expansions aim to further integrate peripheral areas with the core city, opening up new growth pockets for residential and commercial development.

Real Estate Impact

Historically, metro corridors have catalysed property appreciation within a 500-metre radius. With Line 3 now active and future corridors planned, localities along these routes—especially in Hinjewadi, Shivajinagar and Pimpri-Chinchwad—are expected to witness heightened demand from homebuyers and investors alike.

For investors, the timing is opportune. Early-stage properties near upcoming stations often yield higher capital appreciation. Rental demand is also likely to surge as professionals prefer metro-connected housing. However, buyers should evaluate project approvals and proximity to stations before committing.

The expansion signals a mature phase of urban infrastructure in Pune, aligning with the city's rapid economic growth. As the network grows, so will the appeal of Pune's real estate, making it a resilient choice for long-term investment.
