Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has secured Rs 4 crore to install CCTV cameras in an additional 90 municipal schools, as part of the second phase of a safety initiative.

The second phase will cover an additional 90 schools.
The installation was inspired by the model school scheme and expedited after a sexual assault case in Badlapur in 2024.
The model school scheme includes consistent color schemes, standardized flooring, improved toilet designs, BaLA paintings, and critical infrastructure improvements such as repairs to toilets, water tanks, boundary walls, and playgrounds.
Nearly one lakh students study in PMC-run schools.
PMC-run schools teach in various mediums, including Marathi, English, Urdu, and Kannada.
