Pune: PCMC Launches Property Tax Seizure Drive from July 1; Defaulters Face Asset Confiscation
Real Estate Pune:Pimpri-Chinchwad, 30th June 2025: In a decisive move to boost revenue collection, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will begin seizing assets from property tax defaulters starting July 1. The civic administration is preparing for a rigorous recovery campaign targeting residential and commercial properties with long-pending dues.

According to officials, PCMC collected ₹465.55 crore in property tax between April 1 and June 29 this year. However, the civic body has set a much higher collection target of ₹1,000 crore for the ongoing financial year.

Defaulters Warned: Seizure of Household Valuables Likely
The municipal body has issued a stern warning to property owners who have failed to clear their dues. Officials said that in cases where notices have already been served and payments remain pending, PCMC teams will initiate asset seizures without further delay after July 1.

“In such cases, items like televisions, refrigerators, vehicles, and other movable household goods may be confiscated to recover dues,” a senior official confirmed. Those who have not yet received pre-seizure notices are not in the clear either. Notices will soon be issued to all remaining defaulters, PCMC stated in an official release issued on Sunday.

Legal Action for Non-Payment
“Despite several reminders, many property owners have failed to pay their tax. Beginning July 1, we will initiate strict action, including legal procedures and seizure of property,” said Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Additional Municipal Commissioner, PCMC. “We urge all defaulters to clear their dues immediately to avoid inconvenience and penalties,” he added.

Last Day for Discounts and Concessions
PCMC officials have also reminded citizens that June 30 is the last date to avail of a 10% discount on full property tax payments made online. Other concessions declared by the civic body will also lapse after this date.

“We request all property owners to take advantage of the discount schemes before they expire,” said Avinash Shinde, Assistant Commissioner of PCMC. “Timely payment not only saves money but also helps avoid future enforcement action.”

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is a local self-government body responsible for the administration and development of the Pimpri-Chinchwad region in Maharashtra. The PCMC has been proactive in implementing measures to enhance its revenue collection and ensure the well-being of the community.
