A 25-year-old youth from Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, was duped of Rs 80 lakh in a sophisticated cryptocurrency scam. The victim initially invested a modest amount in a promising cryptocurrency project, which seemed to yield good returns. However, when he tried to withdraw his funds, he discovered the platform was a Ponzi scheme.
The local police successfully identified and apprehended two key suspects involved in the cryptocurrency scam. The identities of the suspects have not been disclosed to the public.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Mr. Vijay Yadav, advised the public to be cautious and verify the authenticity of any investment opportunities, especially those promising high returns. He also highlighted the importance of awareness campaigns to educate people about the risks associated with cryptocurrency investments.
