Pune Porsche Case: Police to Challenge High Court Order in Supreme Court
Real Estate Pune:In a significant development, the Pune police are preparing to move to the Supreme Court against a High Court order that provided relief to a juvenile involved in the infamous Porsche case. Reports indicate that Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has given the green light for this legal action. The police intend to challenge the High Court’s directive to release the minor from a surveillance center.

The Pune police had sought permission from the state government to approach the apex court against the High Court’s order. According to reports, this permission has now been granted by the Chief Minister.

On June 25, the Bombay High Court had ordered the immediate release of the juvenile, allegedly involved in the Porsche car accident, from the surveillance home. The court deemed the Juvenile Justice Board’s (JJB) order to send the minor to the home illegal, emphasizing that the laws concerning juveniles must be fully adhered to. The minor had initially been granted bail just hours after the accident on May 19, but was sent to a surveillance home three days later following public protests.

The minor was released from the surveillance home after the High Court’s order, with custody transferred to his aunt. This order came in response to a petition filed by the minor’s aunt, who claimed that the boy was being held illegally.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar told reporters that the police plan to approach the Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court’s order. The police allege that on the morning of May 19, the juvenile, driving under the influence of alcohol, collided with a two-wheeler in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area, resulting in the deaths of two IT professionals. The luxury car involved in the accident belonged to the boy’s real estate businessman father.

The minor’s parents and grandfather are currently in jail in connection with two separate cases related to the incident. One case involves the alleged tampering of blood samples, and the other pertains to the alleged abduction and wrongful confinement of a family driver. A Pune court is expected to rule on the bail applications of the father and grandfather concerning the driver’s alleged abduction on Monday.

It is alleged that they coerced the driver into taking responsibility for driving the car at the time of the accident. The Juvenile Justice Board had granted bail to the minor on the day of the accident, allowing him to stay with his parents and grandfather and instructed him to write a 300-word essay on road safety.
