Pune Property Tax Rebate Scheme Surpasses Rs 1,001 Crore in Just 58 Days

Pune, 28th May 2026: Pune residents have once again responded enthusiastically to the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) property tax collection drive, helping the civic body cross a record ₹1,001 crore in revenue within just 58 days of the new financial year.

The milestone, achieved within the first two months of the financial year, is expected to provide a major financial boost for various development and infrastructure projects across the city.

Every year, the PMC offers an incentive rebate to citizens who pay their property tax between April 1 and May 31. Under the scheme, property owners with tax dues up to ₹25,000 receive a 10 per cent discount, while those with dues above ₹25,000 are eligible for a five per cent rebate. The scheme has consistently received a strong response from taxpayers, but this year the collection has crossed the ₹1,000 crore mark within the stipulated rebate period itself.

Last year, the distribution of property tax bills was delayed, prompting the PMC to extend the rebate scheme from May 1 to June 30. As a result, the civic body had collected only ₹455.85 crore by May 28, 2025. However, officials said this year’s timely launch of the collection drive has significantly improved revenue collection.

The PMC’s Tax Assessment and Collection Department has also been focusing on promoting digital payment methods. According to civic officials, nearly 72 per cent of citizens are paying their property tax through online platforms, making the revenue collection process faster and more convenient.

With only three days remaining for the rebate scheme to end, the civic administration expects an additional ₹250 crore to ₹300 crore to be collected in the coming days.

Meanwhile, to facilitate senior citizens and residents who are unable to make online payments, PMC’s civic facilitation centres will remain operational on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.

Deputy Commissioner Ravi Pawar appealed to citizens to make use of the online payment facility to avoid long queues and crowding at civic centres.
