Real Estate Pune:The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has confirmed three new cases of the Zika virus in the city, following a brief lull in infections during September. The new cases were identified in private healthcare facilities and were confirmed by the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, on October 8.

The recent cases involve a 19-year-old woman from Paud Phata, a 69-year-old man from Warje Naka, and a 59-year-old man from Karve Nagar. According to Dr. Nina Borade, the Health Officer of PMC, all three patients displayed mild symptoms, primarily fever, in September. Initial tests at private laboratories suggested Zika virus infection, which was later confirmed by the NIV.

Pune reported its first Zika case of the year in June, and the cumulative count now stands at 103 cases. The monthly breakdown is as follows 5 cases in June, 54 in July, 39 in August, 2 in September, and the recent 3 in October.

Despite these new cases, Dr. Rajesh Dighe, the Assistant Health Officer of PMC, assured the public that the situation is under control. \
