Pune: Retired ACP Passes Away Due to Heart Attack During Sinhagad Trek
On a sad note, the city of Pune witnessed the untimely passing of a respected retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) during a trek on Sinhagad Fort. The deceased, Rajkumar Gaikwad, aged 62, suffered a severe heart attack on Saturday while climbing the historic fort. Gaikwad, originally from Pune and currently residing in Market Yard, was accompanied by a group of friends, including a doctor, on the trek.
According to the police, Gaikwad suddenly began experiencing severe chest pain during the climb. His friends noticed his distress and immediately sought help. A doctor friend who was part of the group administered first aid on the spot. However, despite their best efforts, Gaikwad's condition worsened, and he was rushed to a nearby private hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors at the hospital confirmed that Gaikwad had succumbed to the heart attack before he could receive proper medical treatment.
The news of Gaikwad's death came as a shock to his friends and colleagues. Gaikwad was known for his amiable nature and dedicated service to the police force. He had served in various capacities in Pune, including as a senior police inspector at the Swargate police station. His contributions to the community and his service in other cities like Mumbai made him a well-respected figure. The sudden loss has left his family and friends in deep grief.
The Haveli police have since registered a case of accidental death following the incident. A panchnama, a legal document recording the details of the incident, was conducted to document the circumstances leading to Gaikwad's death. The police are ensuring that all necessary procedures are followed to provide support to Gaikwad's family during this difficult time.
