Pune State Government Approves ₹27-Crore Plan for Bundgarden Police Station’s New Building
Real Estate Pune:Pune: The Maharashtra state government has given administrative approval to the construction of a new administrative building for the Bundgarden police station at an estimated cost of ₹27 crore. Of the sanctioned cost, ₹26.17 crore has been budgeted for the current financial year, with the remaining amount to be provisioned separately.

With the administrative approval in place, the project will now move forward with the appointment of an architect and a contractor. This process is expected to take around four months. After these appointments, the construction is scheduled to be completed within a two-year timeframe, according to a senior public works department (PWD) official in charge of the project.

Another senior officer from the PWD stated that the home department approved the construction of the new administrative building for the Bundgarden police station on Monday. The proposal was initially submitted by the Pune city police commissioner's office on November 26, 2021, and was subsequently reviewed by the office of the director-general of police and the PWD.

The new building will be constructed on a 3,946 square meter site opposite the old central building, near the new collector's office. The site currently houses four structures that will be demolished to make way for the new facility. The new building will feature a basement and four floors, with a total built-up area of 4,860.38 square meters. It will accommodate officers and staff, and will include a record room under the deputy commissioner of police's office, a meeting hall, canteen, drivers' room, and other ancillary facilities.

Before the start of the construction, all necessary mapping and layout approvals must be secured. A detailed budget will be prepared from the rough estimates, and the project will proceed only after these approvals are in place. Once the demolition of the existing structures is complete and the tenders are finalized, the construction will begin. The project aims to be completed within the stipulated time frame and budgetary limits, as stated by the official in charge of the project.

The new building is expected to significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the Bundgarden police station, providing modern facilities and improved working conditions for the officers and staff. This development is part of the state government's broader initiative to modernize police infrastructure across Maharashtra, ensuring better public safety and service delivery.
