Pune Woman Business Owner Extorted Rs 44 Lakh by Ghaywal Gang, 14 Accused Booked
Real Estate Pune:Pune, 18th October 2025: A shocking case of extortion has come to light in Pune, where gangster Nilesh Ghaywal, his brother Sachin Ghaywal, and their associates allegedly extorted Rs 44 lakh from a woman director of a private company that provides food and transportation services to students of a renowned school in the Karvenagar–Shivne area.

The complainant lodged a case at Warje Malwadi Police Station, following which a total of 14 people have been booked. Those named in the FIR include Bapu Kadam, Nilesh Ghaywal, Sachin Ghaywal, Pappu Dalvi, Abhi Gorde, Deepak Amle, Babu Veer, Amol Bandgar, Babu Pisal, Amol Lakhe, Sandeep Phatak, Bablu Golekar, and Bablu Suravase, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Sambhaji Kadam confirmed the registration of the case and said investigations are underway. Among the accused, Bapu Kadam is employed as a sports teacher at a school in the Karvenagar area.

Extortion Under Threat
According to the police, the complainant runs a company that provides catering and transport services to schools. During business interactions, she came into contact with accused Bapu Kadam, who claimed to own a dairy in Kothrud. Kadam allegedly asked her to buy milk and paneer from him for supply to the school canteen.

The woman later learned that Kadam was associated with a criminal gang. Despite transferring Rs 22.2 lakh to Kadam’s account over time, he neither delivered the promised goods nor refunded the money. She eventually procured the items from other vendors to fulfill her commitments.

In January 2025, when the complainant confronted Kadam, he allegedly threatened her, saying he worked for the Nilesh Ghaywal gang, and that Ghaywal’s brother Sachin was also a sports teacher. “You will have to buy milk and paneer from us, or we will shut down your business,” Kadam reportedly warned.

Shortly afterward, when the woman was leaving the school premises in her car, Kadam intercepted her vehicle. Soon after, Nilesh Ghaywal, his brother Sachin, and several associates arrived in another car.

According to the complaint, Sachin Ghaywal threatened her, saying, “Don’t you want to stay alive?” and demanded money. Fearing for her safety, the woman transferred another Rs 22 lakh into the accused’s bank account.

Later, she discovered that Kadam did not own any dairy business and subsequently approached the police.

Gang Leader Faces Multiple Cases
Police said Nilesh Ghaywal, who is already absconding in the Kothrud firing case, has seven other criminal cases registered against him, including charges of extortion, kidnapping, and illegal possession of property.
