The main issue is the misuse of artificial intelligence to create and circulate morphed nude images of a 21-year-old MBA student from Pune, causing significant distress and harassment.
The accused met the victim through the online multiplayer game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), where they interacted through matchmaking and voice chat.
After the victim rejected his proposal, the accused created fake Instagram profiles in her name, threatened her, and used AI tools to generate and circulate morphed nude images of her.
The police traced the accused’s digital footprint and tracked him down to Karjat, where he was arrested by a team led by Senior Police Inspector Anil Vibhute.
The accused has been arrested and is in police custody for three days for further investigation, supervised by PI (Crime) Bhaskar Kadam.
