The Mali Mahasangha is demanding that the Metro station near Mahatma Phule Mandai be named after Mahatma Jyotiba Phule.
The Mali Mahasangha is protesting because the Metro station has been named as Mandai Metro, removing Mahatma Phule's name.
The protest saw participation from Jyoti Mandal, Mahatma Phule Mandal, traders from Mahatma Phule Mandai, as well as officials from MNS, NCP, BJP, and Congress.
The Metro administration has agreed to discuss the issue on October 4.
Mahatma Jyotiba Phule was a 19th-century social reformer who fought against social injustice and advocated for the rights of marginalized communities.
