Real Estate Agent Injured in Pistol Mishap by Friend in Pune
Real Estate Pune:Pune A real estate agent, Pradip Sawant (31), from Sukhsagarnagar, sustained injuries after his friend accidentally misfired a pistol at an open plot off Gangadham Chowk-Kondhwa Road around 9 45 PM on Saturday.
According to the Ambegaon police, the two friends initially tried to cover up the incident by lying to the police.
They claimed that an unidentified person had shot at Sawant on the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass near the Swami Narayan Temple.

Senior Inspector Sharad Zine of Ambegaon police told the Times of India, 'Sawant, who was first taken to a doctor's clinic at Ambegaon, claimed that unidentified persons had opened fire on him near the Swami Narayan Temple on the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass.
He was then referred to a hospital at Bhumkar Chowk due to a fracture in his right elbow from the bullet injuries.
The hospital subsequently sent us a medico-legal case in this regard.'

The police team spoke to Sawant, who initially insisted that an unidentified man had opened fire on him near the temple.
However, upon reviewing the CCTV footage, the police found no evidence of any shooting incident near the temple.
Deputy Commissioners of Police Smartana Patil and Nikhil Pingale also arrived at the scene and began questioning Sawant more rigorously.

Zine further explained, 'Sawant then confessed that his friend had brought an illegal firearm loaded with a bullet to the open plot where they were sitting.
While handling the weapon, it misfired, and the bullet hit his right elbow.
To cover up the incident, both friends decided to invent a fake shooting near the temple.'

The case has been transferred to the Kondhwa police for further investigation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone V) Rajkumar Shinde stated, 'Later on Sunday afternoon, Kondhwa police arrested Sawant's friend, Anil Chavan, who is also a real estate agent.
We are currently investigating how he obtained the weapon and for what purpose.'

This incident highlights the dangers of handling illegal firearms and the importance of honesty in reporting such events to the authorities.
