Real Estate Agent Shot at in Kandivali: Police Launch Investigation
A 42-year-old real estate agent was shot at by three unidentified persons in the Charkop area of Kandivali (West) on Wednesday afternoon, according to police. The incident took place around 2 pm when Freddy D’lima was leaving an English-medium school in Ganesh Nagar after a meeting.
Police stated that despite sustaining bullet injuries, D’lima managed to drive his car to Oscar Hospital, where he is currently being treated. “Both the bullets were removed and he is currently out of danger,” a crime branch official confirmed.
The attack occurred as D’lima stepped out of the school. Three persons waiting outside opened fire, with one bullet hitting his abdomen and another his chest. According to officers, the attackers were riding a motorcycle, with the driver and one pillion rider wearing helmets, while the third man was wearing a cap and a mask.
The motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained. Police are checking CCTV cameras in the area and a forensic team has collected evidence from the scene. A police officer mentioned that D’lima has enmity with several individuals, and some of them are being questioned to gather leads.
A relative of the victim told mediapersons that D’lima had received a threat call three days earlier. The caller had threatened him with dire consequences. D’lima had approached the police and registered a non-cognisable offence. He also recorded the call and submitted it for investigation.
Charkop Police have registered a case of attempt to murder along with other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The investigation is ongoing to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the attack.
